About Us
Teal Run Tidal Waves is a private non-profit parent organized neighborhood Swim Team. the team has served the Fresno communities for over 20 years. We are part of the Southwest Houston Recreational Swim League www.shrsl.org established in 1973 as a summer swim league.
Our season practices usually start after school either the last week in April or the first week in May. They then move to optional morning or evening practices for the convenience of the swim family and continues through mid-July. Season last 12-13 weeks for one set-price!
We typically have 4 or more coaches who frequently get in the water for our younger groups. This is a great place for your kids to learn and advance their swim skills. We don't turn kids away unless they are terrified of water.
Our meets are held on Monday nights at 5pm usually starting the first Monday after school ends. Our season consist of five dual meets. the dual meets are followed by a division Meet of Champions (MOC) and finally the fastest swimmers from each division compete in a league wide All-Stars Meet.
Parents play an important role in the swim team. We need swim team parent(s) to volunteer for each meet that their swimmer(s) swim, in order for us to have a successful team and meets. Parents must suggest two volunteers' spots when registering the swimmer.
We invite anyone who loves to swim to join our team. Membership is open to anyone ages 4-18.
Prospective Members must be able to swim according to the following requirements by May 28th to make the competitive team:
6 and under - able to swim one half length of the pool.
7 and over - able to swim the full length of the pool.
11 and over - able to swim two full lengths of the pool.
Any prospective member unable to meet these requirements by the end of the new swimmer Mock Meet may be ineligible for the competitive team. If the swimmer does not place in the competitive team will be a Mini-Wave and will continue practice thru the schedule practice for non-competitive swimmers. The differences in cost will be charged if needed.
We assure you that there is a welcome position for each and every child on our team. We only ask that you be a positive team member.
